About Us
Interlaken Preschool is a play-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired preschool for children ages two and a half to five,Stevens School campus in Capitol Hill. We are a licensed non-profit organization. Our approach is guided by our commitment to an emergent curriculum and anti-bias practices, drawing on the proven ideas and experiences from schools in Reggio Emilia, Italy. We are part of Sound Child Care Solutions. Our mission is to prepare young children for school and for life by providing high-quality early childhood education.
Enrollment
We offer several options to meet the individual needs of children and families. Applications for the next school year are due on February 1; however, we continue to accept applications beyond that date until our classroom is complete. While a child’s position on our waiting list is one factor we consider when making enrollment decisions, we also strive to create a balanced classroom regarding gender, age range, and diversity.
Curriculum
Interlaken Preschool is a play-based, Reggio Emilia-inspired program. When you tour our site, you'll notice a focus on documentation displays. This showcases children's thoughts and explanations through photographs, visual presentations, and transcripts, illustrating their learning process. We see the curriculum as everything that occurs during our time with the children. Sample Menu
Meals
Interlaken Preschool provides school lunch. The cost of lunch is included in tuition prices. We serve a regular lunch option as well as an allergen-free and vegetarian option. Interlaken families provide a healthy morning and afternoon snack.
*Please note that we are a nut-free program.
